Feature Film Public Performance Rights - ACF Renewal 2020-2021

Pricing is now available for the renewal for the Feature Film Public Performance Rights (PPR) license from Audio-Cine Films (ACF).

The PPR licence includes the following options:

  • For all institutions, Entertainment PPR to cover the showing of films on campus outside the classroom, e.g. a student club's movie night; and
  • For for-profit institutions only, Educational PPR to cover the showing of films in the classroom.


Updates: 

Important note for ACF Streaming subscribers: Sites that subscribe to the ACF Streaming Service have public performance rights already included in that package, but only for films being shown via the streaming service. If your films will be performed exclusively through ACF Streaming, you do not need this PPR license. But if your films are shown through any other means (DVD, etc.), this PPR license is still necessary.

Outdoor screenings: ACF has notified us that the studios are placing limits on outdoor screenings. Next year's license will apply only to indoor screenings. This year's license will continue to allow outdoor screenings in principle, but ACF is requiring that anyone planning an outdoor screening must first contact ACF and confirm whether the chosen film is allowed.

Description: 

Audio Cine Films offers public performance rights licenses covering Education and Entertainment use. With the corresponding licenses from Criterion Pictures, BC ELN partner libraries can obtain rights covering almost all of the major US and Canadian studios and production companies and many independent producers and foreign films.

The Entertainment licence covers on-campus screenings outside of the classroom, and is not limited to libraries or faculty. See the ACF ffPPR: Entertainment page for details, including specific rights and limitations.

The Education licence covers screenings for educational purposes within for-profit institutions. Non-profit institutions do not require an Education license. See the ACF ffPPR: Education page for details.

Rights FAQs:

ACF Streaming subscribers do not need a PPR license for films shown through the streaming service. A PPR license is still required for any films shown through other media, such as DVDs.
